the first song was constructed during a couple day period in which i was stuck in a college dorm building during hurricane harvey. i recorded vocal parts in the building's stair wells, and used my phone to record samples of the storm outside and the life going on inside, then spent most of the days assembling and mixing them all together. the second song was recorded earlier in the year, but was mixed and constructed during the days of the storm. it took on new life for me during that time, reminding me of the constant rain outside. i was fortunate enough to have a safe place to ride the storm out and work on music, but many in this city were not.
the storm hit the city hard, but the humanity and compassion that everyone here has exhibited during and after the storm is incredible. this city is truly a community like no other, and i am blessed to live in such a place. i've watched people go out of their way to save and aid others, putting their own lives on the line. students, faculty, and staff all came together at my college to keep everyone safe, secure, and healthy on campus during the worst of the storm. it's probably the most remarkable display of human good and compassion that i have ever experienced first hand.
the worst of the storm is pretty much over, and the city is beginning its recovery period, so i ask you, please help out and donate to the city's relief. please please PLEASE don't pay for the music above, use that money to help.
any of the above links are great places to donate that go directly to organizations in the city of houston, please donate what you can.
thank u all for your support
